I'm reading Empire Falls. It says locals in the Florida Keys are called Conchs, and tourists consider them colorful so they befriend them and buy them drinks, etc., to keep them around. Can we start a tradition like that here?

So much for THAT compassionate moment! Maybe I've been too sheltered.

A mentally challenged man in line at Wal-mart holding his teddy bear (and talking to it like it was helping him shop) while scraping change out of his pocket. (A woman ahead of me in line worked at that store and said he came in EVERY DAY to buy candy.....another guy in line joined in the conversation and told us he volunteers at a homeless shelter and the city has recently closed missions to feed the homeless. I guess the cuts are affecting everyone.) I was so depressed myself after being there!! It seemed to me everyone was on the make and breezin through which I guess alot of them are, but I still can't figure out why it seemd so amplified there. Was just in Newark and Manhatten today and saw one person I think was homeless, and she seemed to have her s*&t together. LOL

Definitely Downtown LV for sure. When I was there two weeks ago I couldnt even count how many times I got asked by bums for money or food on my walks to the bus station on Casino Center. Will not stay on Fremont Street ever again, net time it will be the MGM Grand!

At least on the strip some will try to to entertain the crowds. IE music, doing something so stupid its hilarious, etc And they are not as aggressive as on Fremont Street either, not once on the strip was I asked if I wanted to buy "Ice" weed, coke, E, GHB, or any drug thats named after a letter in the alphabet

LVD was right, Fremont sucks

Las Vegas IMO is not a miserable place, most people I ran into off the strip were very happy, cool and down to earth people, even in Summerlin
