I love Las Vegas but with the economy the way it is and trying to make a living is very hard, especially for an old codger like myself.
I am a realtor and thank goodness I am selling but nothing to write home about. We're like everyone else upside down in our home, depleted income, health problems.
Our income has depleted not because I don't have buyers but the way the banks are causing real-estate transactions to be done differently, the banks are either non responsive or ridiculous with offers. Real-estate and mortgage industry is all together a quagmire.Thank goodness my spouse is self employed and we have that money coming in, but my spouse's income is cut in half because his clients are either partially paying their accounts or no pay and these are large companies.
IF I could afford to move I would but at the same time we like where we live and we love the weather it's great for arthritis and there is lots to do. And other places economies are bad and starting over in already bad economic environment would mean definite financial doom. Possibly homelessness.

I work 7 days a week from 3:00am in the morning talking and emailing to clients in different countries and US time zones and during the day I show properties, I work until I go to bed at night and it's wearing on me. I told my spouse last night we shouldn't have to work so hard at this age, I guess I shouldn't complain at least we're busy and we do have some money coming in which there could be no money coming in at all.
Sorry to go off on a tangent I thought I should explain why I would want to move, so people would know that it's not because of Vegas itself but the economic, environment right now. I know Vegas will turn around I just know if I can hang in there long enough for it to turn for the better, we'll be fine. However since Vegas is heavily driven by tourism and the employment down all over the US for the most part I have been told that it could be 10 5 to 10 yrs before there is a turnaround. That's along time when your barely hanging on by a thread and maybe moving would be the way to survive.

If you want to leave, take I-15 either direction and don't let the door hit you on the way out. In fact, we'd all help you get started.

You must think you'd be missed, the way you go on about it. Let me make this perfectly clear ─ you wouldn't be.

Vegas has never been one of our first choices, but my husband loves his job here. We are happy here. If he didn't have a good job, we would leave. I think a person can choose to be happy anywhere, if their needs are met.

Almost forgot....E) When you go out of town and people ask where you're from, Las Vegas is like the ultimate conversation starter! It's funny how they think most men that live in Vegas are gamblers or poker pro's, whereas the females are all strippers! lol

I've been gone for almost two years now. I still miss my friends and will visit in April.

I'm still getting the, "you moved here from Vegas!" conversations. It's still a fun chat!
