Summerlin is a very family friendly master-planned community. I have lived here 10 years and they do a lot of family activities

No, sorry guy, not me.. But let me guess, there was probably someone who wanted a vacation condo and somebody like you thought that you should join the forum to tear them down because 'HOW COULD SOMEONE ACTUALLY HAVE ANY MONEY?", just because your life is spent serving burgers, banging nails, working security, or mowing a lawn, and you can't figure out why you're 60 year's old and have a high school student as your boss.. I would bet the farm on my call, and I don't even gamble...

1. "60 year's old" <Nope, not even close yet>

2. "high school student as your boss" <Been retired for nearly 10 years>

3. "life is spent serving burgers, banging nails, working security, or mowing a lawn" <Never did any of those things although I did drive an ice cream truck one summer>

Okay Geeko, where's my farm?

Default Dear Mr. Gekko,

After reading many posts on many different threads I've confirmed the above statement.

Sorry if you feel offended. One would assume that a person of your considerable means would have plenty of friends/employees/customers (or at least recipients of your charitable largess) eager to offer advice. I worked with a couple of CEOs and other high-level managers in 18 years with a Fortune 100 company and never knew any to make important life decisions based on advice from strangers on the Internet. Usually they had golf partners to tell them what to do.

Best wishes,
A Self-destroyed Nothing Who Lives and Learns

Having dealt with both I think I would go with the strangers on the Internet.

Some of the biggest idiotic things I have seen done were golf buddies or over a beer with the other wheels.

Wheels are often very smart guys...but it is often very, very narrow...

I would definitely say that summerlin is a great start. TPC and The Ridges are great options. You may want to consider Red Rock as well. You will have better results working w/ a professional to guide you through those neighborhoods and get a feel for them yourself. Your price point will ultimately help you decide on which neighborhood will give you what you want for the price you want to pay.

I like the locale of Summerlin since we do not commute other than to meetings I will have on the strip a couple days each week, the airport (because I have to leave town somewhat frequently for business), and the entertainment, restaurants, and shopping the strip provides.

Great schools are a must and I want a community where children can take off on bikes, etc, doing there own thing with friends, without worry..

Also, I want an area where nice homes (8,000sf plus) and successful neighbors make up the larger demographic. Yes, I will admit I'm nouveau riche (lol) and still at the stage where I need to prove to everybody I made it and only want the 10,000sf plus home with the finest quality build and furnishings, and the minimum of a six car garage to showoff my exotic car collection.

I need to add that social/ charity events are very important to us as well, and want to be in a community that appreciates the same.

So is Summerlin the best choice, or would you recomend somewhere else?

However if you are not stuck on summerlin.... Mcdonald Ranch has an absolutely stunning 12,800 sft two story w/ pool that is in mint condition right on the golf course, guard gated absolutely gorgeous community tucked away just off the 215 in henderson.

I would think Summerlin is somewhat low class for a man of your stature.
