My sister told me a story a few years back about how a guest died in a room in the hotel she was staying in. She said that the cleaning lady found the guest dead and the hotel manager called the police and about 6 of them came up followed by the county morgue who hauled the body out of the hotel in front of all the guest. She said she was horrified by it.
How does Las Vegas handle things when a tourist dies? Would the hotel call the cops or handle it more discreet by calling a funeral home to come and remove the corpse- maybe late at night down the freight elevator and out the back door?
If they cannot find a next of kin, what would they do with the body? Would it be buried or burned? Would the hotel pay for it or the city? I suspect that there are at least a few cases like this in such a tourist heavy place so they should have it down pat.

I would have to say that just because Las Vegas is known as Sin City, it's not a completely different universe. It's another American city and things are done basically the same as they are in other cities. I'm sure in Chicago, NY, Atlanta, Dallas, LA, if god forbid someone dies in their hotel room, there is a plan of how to go about removing the body. Seems a little far fetched that the body was removed in plain sight of other guests. If that was the only way to remove the body though, I'm sure they would do it in the most efficient, respectful way possible.

The hotel pretends the dead guy won a jackpot and advertise that it's been payed out. They then dress the dead guy up in some sort of full body suit so people just think he was one of those guys on the street corners advertising something that had too much to drink.

Another thing is the media will not report the deaths. There are lots of people jumping off the Stratosphere (and other places), and you will never hear about it.

Sounds similar to Orlando. The local media will cover it up to keep the city and county's tourists dollars rolling

I assume that they removed him before the hotel was imploded but ya never know....

Actually...they do call the police and the coroner because cause of death has to be established [in the event that it ain't 'mamma'] that wacked him.

This is the stupidest thread I've ever seen on any forum. Not even worth the dignity of a reply, except to say that there have been a million urban legends like this told in Las Vegas since Bugsy Siegel was in diapers. But even he never asked such dumb questions.
