Moving from Cincinnati, Oh to Las Vegas Labor Day weekend 2010!!!!! My fiance is being relocated to a major bank there. So.....I'm wondering what my chances of landing a decent collections job are? Luckily my fiance makes enough to support us both but I would like to work and enroll in UNLV. In Ohio, I made $14/hr with avg bonus of $1100 per month and hours were 40 hours. Been in collections 5 years straight!! What kind of transition can be expected for me?

Sounds like you are a competent pro and in a growth industry. Anybody who can grind out calls for 5 years and is still excited about the job, is worth their weight in gold to an employer.

I did it for a bank in AZ back in the last bad downturn ('89-'94). Was on an auto-dialing system making like 150 calls per day; seems like a lifetime ago. Anyway, back then pay was $8-$12 per hour with a potential for like $500/month "incentive". I would imagine the OP's $40G is about tops in any market.

i would think 40k is a stretch.. nobody is paying debt collectors right now imo... and we are on to their game.. there is no reason to pay them, it does not help your credit at all
