If you are price-sensitive, you might want to look at Pure DSL from Embarq. It is only $30/month w/no phone line required. If you are lucky you can get 10Mbps or higher. If you are not, as I am, you can only get 5Mbps until they upgrade the equipment in your neighborhood. 10Mbps from Cox is $47/month after the promotional period.

Cox certainly lives up to their name. We have been having constant outages with them. My Clear modem that I use at work is actually more reliable, at least in my case.

We've had decent luck with Embarq DSL. We don't have Cox because where our home is didn't have it available yet. We tried Hughes Satellite and it was a less than positive experience.

I've had COX for the past 6 years. In all that time, it has never been down.

I'll put in a vote for Cox. I've had business internet with them for a year and a half. It's expensive ($110 a month) but it works really well. There are occasional slowdowns in the evening but they seem to come and go.

I had residential service with them for six months as well in a different house. It went down once. That was it.
