I'm looking for a good used book store. Are there any big chain ones that are the size of places like Barnes n Noble? I moved here recently and I live pretty close to UNLV and haven't had a lot of time to explore. The only used book place I've seen so far was kind of small by Big Lots on tropicana and Pecos. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I like Plaza Books, 7380 S. Eastern Ave. Not an especially big store, but good selection and friendly people.

I don't think there are many used bookstores as big as the size you are referring to. I haven't personally come across any nearly as big in any state I've been to. I'd love to find one though!

One place I seem to pass by a lot for some reason is called Book Magician. I keep thinking its a magic store, but upon closer inspection, it is indeed a used book store. Its on West Charleston. Never been there, don't know what its like, but it looks intriguing. YMMV.

I'm no literary master so my used book purchases are limited to Savers, Goodwill, other thrift stores, yard sales, libraries and their affiliates, etc. In the town I lived in before, the local library worked with an organization to run a relatively large used book store that had a tremendously great and constantly expanding selection. Maybe something like that exists somewhere in Las Vegas? Anyone know?

Regardless, happy book hunting

This is one as big as any. Not in Vegas, but you said in any state.

Very cool, wish I could go there! Reminds me of another book store in my home state, but this one is probably larger. But I could probably spend forever there! And very cool that they sell online! Looks like I got a new source. Appreciate it!

Deseret thrift store has a pretty good selection of used books. I go to the one on Craig/Allen. Just go in and go all the way to the back on the right.
There are a few locations around the valley, one on the east side as well.

A little tidbit about books at Goodwill: The sign shows $1.99 for hardcovers and 99cents for paperbacks. So if you buy a big paperback, they still have to only charge you 99cents. But they may ring it up as $1.99 each. I learned this when i argued the point that i had 2 paperbacks, not hardcovers. I left with the paperback price.

Savers: the most expensive for books. $1.99 for paperbacks. Why pay that when you can get them for $1 at Deseret and Goodwill. The only way i will pay that is if it's a book I have been searching for. Otherwise, i still have a selection to last me for several years and then some currently.
Please don't let me buy more books.

Book Lovers is a little farther away from campus, but I really dig that place.
Also, if you love books, Powell's City of Books is one of the most amazing places I have ever been. I spent nearly 4 hours in there just wandering like an idiot amazed at the sheer immensity of it. Portland ruled in general, this was just another gem in its crown.

There used to be one in Commercial Center, and there is one in the center (Westgate Plaza???) on the SW corner of Valley View and Charleston behind M & M Soul Food restaurant, besides the one in the center on the NE corner of Rancho & Charleston mentioned earlier.
