Hi!

I'm driving from Toronto to LA to stay a few months, I just finished some schools and have a little savings so what better than sun and sand.

My car is small and it might seem full, and I've heard of people being rejected at the border because they think they're moving there. Should I declare that I'm going to a closer city??

Also, how long can I stay there?

Thank you beforehand.

If you are a Canadian citizen, you can stay 6 months.
Bring proof of your ties to Canada (employer's letter, lease agreement, enrollment in university etc), and proof that you can support yourself while in the USA as you are not allowed to work.

As a single person with a car full of stuff you will be scrutinized big time and if your story has any inconsistencies you maybe denied entry.
You may want to make your car look like you are not going on a one way trip. be very specific as to where you are going, where you will be staying and how you will support yourself financially, and of course exactly when you will be returning,, Going on a 2 week vacation to visit relatives is usually a good starting point where you may decide to extend the trip once there but be sure there are real relatives as the border agents may call them to confirm/verify your intentions...
