My boyfriend's family gained asylum through his father. They applied for citizenship but his father died before it was finalized.

He wants to apply for citizenship. Has his asylum been voided due to his father's death? His asylum papers state that asylum never expires.

If he applies for citizenship, will he be deported?

I suggest he contacts an immigration lawyer. I wouldn't take advice on something so important off an Internet forum.
