The interview part of the process to gain naturalization so you don't have to hand anything in on that date. They will take your greencard on the day of your oath ceremony when they give you your certificate of naturalization.

If you are planning to travel I would inform them at the interview. You will be asked if you have travelled outside of the USA between interview and oath ceremony when you attend so best to let them know your intentions.

If your oath ceremony turns out to be right after your interview (for some in Detroit it was 2 days later) then you may need to obtain a US passport at a regional office. Its not cheap but you can sometimes get a one the same day.

Mine is coming next Tuesday. It seems getting tougher. Some failed for trivial things, like can't remember the date last entering the States. Anyone wants to share some experiences? If I fail, the next opportunity will be far away, I'm afraid at least another yr. Thx!

I passed it! I'm an American now, officially.
The interview official I met was pretty nice and the questions I was asked were fairly easy. So I got some good luck. I was very aware of that I only had two opportunities for this test. If I fail the 2nd one, I won't get the citizenship anymore. Man, this is like my PhD qualify exam already. Good luck to the future test takers!
