Asian American immigrants outpace Latinos

Hopefully this dispells the stereotype in many Americans' minds of the typical immigrant being an undocumented migrant crossing the Mexican border.

very interesting to read how each sub-category has such distinct profiles. it is well known that asians in general are better educated and are highly family oriented but it was a bit surprising that indian-americans leads the group. no surprise however that better educated parents with high focus on parenting leads to well raised and better educated next generation.

Asian immigrants to U.S. surpass Hispanics for first time | The Lookout - Yahoo! News

This surprised me. Big difference is that they are coming over here educated , not dirt poor and unable to communicate.

I'm Hispanic and am very excited over this news! I've lived amongst and within Asian communites in Southern California since 1994. Prior to that I lived in a predominantly Hispanic community. Sadly, but truthfully, I experienced a day and night difference in patterns of behavior, conviviality, etc. between the two communites. Unlike my Hispanic counterparts, the vast majority of Asians I've become associated wth are peaceful and polite. One could not ask for better neighbors.

Admitedly, most Asians I am now associated with were initially a bit apprehensive. That all changed the more we got to know each other.

As others have mentioned, most Asians do their absolute best to communicate in English, and in some cases even in Spanish.

Lastly. . .Asian chicks are hot!!!

Try to talk to some of them after they have been here 20+ years.

I suppose you are talking about groups that came about 100 years ago such as Italians and Eastern European Jews, no?

So, African immigrants aren't the most educated anymore? I know this varies by Asian ethnicity/nationality, as SE Asians tend to be poorer and less educated. Many came as refugees though.

Surprised to see those brown Indians leading huh?

Sorry but your statement reeks of hubris.

"Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free."

You forgot that a high proportion of Asians don't speak English well, and as Pear Martini said:

In a sense it's not about under- or overrepresentation, but more about representing non-Whites as normal human beings.

One may argue that Blacks are overrepresented, yet in a lot of cases they portray the same stereotypes over and over and over and over again.

Same goes for Asian men and women.

Asian females are the perfect non-White trophy wife and it seems that some people see only a tight ***** when they see an Asian female.
AsianFemale-WhiteMale couples are incessantly shown to be the ideal interracial pairing.

Asian males, if you ever see them at all, are portrayed as:
°someone you would not date or kiss or have sex with
°foreigners, even in the 2nd, 3rd, etc. generations
°good at martial arts but not at "all American" sports
A reason why Jeremy Lin was overlooked that much and why many Americans had a hard time getting their heads around Linsanity.

This tells you how uninformed and how ignorant Xenophobes are... it's like they need an enemy to cope with their own bitterness.

The only two races there should be on earth are the Xenophobes and the human race.

"Why keep making race an issue, we've been down that road before. Why can't we learn from the past?

If you keep thinking about divisions such as race, instead of allowing for smarter data driven decisions to challenge our private prejudices; then sustainable, quality living, is not your goal. Why allow errors in thinking that have a negative consequence, (and please don't forget life cycle costs.) to continue giving people negative consequences? No one has ever written an article or a study on how desegregation of southern schools has been a failure, on the contrary it has been an overwhelming success"

Polite Asians? I could only comment on my experiences. Nearly 100% of the time when I greet an Asian while doing my regular runs and cycling I never- ever get a 'good morning' or a 'hello' returned. Asian women are the absolute worst and when I approach one while running I now turn my head so as not to make eye contact. Why waste my breath? There's this older Asian gal that walks around my block on Monday mornings when I do my weekly yard-work. Every single time that I've greeted her she walks right past me like I wasn't even there. The hell with her. In my experiences Caucasians, Afro-Americans and Latinos return my greetings.

Go to any Indian Bingo Casino here in So-Cal and you'll see how rude they are. They bump into you and never say excuse me or sorry. They'll take 'cuts' in front of you at the slots, at the bars and even at the urinals in the restroom- for crying out loud. How about when they blow their filthy cigarette smoke in my face?? I haven't even mentioned the Asians I've dealt with at work and the Asians that used to come into my restaurant back in the day. I could write a novel.

Lastly, since when are Asian women hot? YUCK.
