For those of you who already went through this process, can you please advise what are the chances for someone in Hungary to immigrate to US on a H1B visa?
The person I'm talking about is Hungarian, has an MBA from a Hungarian University (BA in Management), 5 years professional experience within multi-national companies (currently employed by one). Although he is trying to move to US through L1 he's also interested in the H1 path for a different company.
My friend visited the US but never worked here.
What are currently the chances for H1B and what is the best way of finding a sponsor?
Thank you,
Bob

If you find a sponsor/ employer, your chances of getting the actual visa are very very good, I believe last year there were more vias available than people taking them up, because employers simply weren't hiring.
Can't really help with where to find an employer though, I'd suggest international job agency websites such as monster and the websites of large multi-nationals.

If the Masters qualification equates to a US masters (there are companies that will evaluate your qualifications) then he has a very good chance of H1B.
The cap hasn't been reached this year, plus if you have a MA and are going to work for a not for profit, research or academic institution you may qualify for one of the cap exempt H1bs.
Needs a job first-agree to use monster or pick a state and type of business and start searching for companies.
I assume English is good? Will need to sit english test.
Hop this helps!

Does anybody actually care about the fact that it is ILLEGAL for companies to employ people with H-1B visas whilst there are American citizens in need of employment?

No-it's not illegal at all-as long as they prove that you are the best person for the job ie have the particular experience or qualifications that they require. There has been a big hoo-haa about H1bs as some dodgy companies/attorneys were getting H1bs for contract workers from abroad. Now that is illegal as you are supposed to have a permanent contract.

If you want to DM me - I know of a couple of companies that do H1B sponsorships that my company works with - I would be happy to provide you their information and you can talk to them about the process, etc.
