My wife and I are moving to the Lehigh Valley and have decided to rent a house/condo/townhouse for a year before buying.
Is anyone, or does anyone know, a rental agent? I can't find any online, just realtors and apartment complexes.
Thanks!

It's very uncommon to use a rental agent in this area. I don't know of any or anyone that has used one.

I used a Realtor 2 years ago.

Not a bad way to go in this area.

A Realtor is not a rental agent although some Realtors do know about rentals. My daughter was looking for an apartment last year in NYC and apparently that's the main way to get a rental there. I'm guessing that's what the OP is used to, although I could be wrong.

@toobusy - you are right. We lived in NYC prior to Austin and used an "apartment locator" in both locations to find a rental, then a realtor to buy in Austin after that.

Any suggestions other than craigslist? We would prefer to stay away from an apartment complex and would prefer to rent a house, condo, or townhouse if possible. I'm going to be in A-town/Bethlehem next weekend looking, so I guess if nothing else I can just try to set up appointments on my own.

@lbishop72 - did you use a realtor to rent or to buy? If you used one to rent, could you please provide their contact info?

Any idea what the "Good Shepard" area of Allentown is like? I think Good Shepard is the Rehab Center, but I don't know if that is rehab for injuries or drugs....any thoughts?

Good Shepherd does physical therapy re-hab. I'm going to one of their off site locations for PT myself. They have a very good reputation for PT, but if you are talking about living near their main location off of route 145, no I wouldn't say that's a great area. The only parts of Allentown that most of us consider safe are the outskirts of town to the south and west. If you have kids, you will want to avoid any houses within the Allentown School district.
