Im a SAHM and I just moved to Bangor a couple of months ago. I have a 2 year old son. I have been looking for a place for Mommy and me or something but it seems like every place is either really far or your child has to be 3 and up. Is there any places around here to meet other moms and children other than the park for younger kids?

How about a MOPS? Home (http://faithmops.com/default.aspx - broken link) This one is in Allentown but maybe if you went to one or two meetings, you would meet some people that live closer. Your library probably has some lap sit times too where you could meet other SAHM's. Hmm, just looked at your library, and they don't have lap sit. Bangor Public Library (http://www.bangorlibrary.org/programs.html - broken link) If you haven't visited though, it would still be a good place to check out.

Hi and welcome to our area!

There is a local MOPS group, it meets at Mount Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, 1270 Belvidere Corner Road, Mount Bethel, PA 18343

The meeting is 4th Tuesday of the month from 9:00 to 11:15 a.m. Contact number for this group is (570) 897-7142.

There is also a Nazareth area MOPS and a more active Bethlehem one at Ebenezer Church on Hecktown Road (I believe they meet twice a month).

You can call Bangor Library or Blue Mountain Community Library in Pen Argyl to see if they have story times. The Barnes & Noble on Route 33 definitely does, here's their site with the dates: Barnes & Noble - Bethlehem, Easton PA

If you pick up some of the free local papers such as the Blue Valley Times The Blue Valley Times or The Press from Bangor, you can see many more kid-friendly activities for the Slate Belt area. Blue Valley Farm Show will be starting on August 17, I believe.

When my kids were little, I'd go to the free concerts held at the parks. They could play in the kiddie area while I heard some nice free live music. The concert series for summer are almost over, however.

Hope that helps a bit! I do work at home so unfortunately I don't normally get out to things like MOPS, but we do hit lots of parks and carnivals and other community events as much as possible.

MOPS is a Christian moms group. If you are looking for a general, non faith-based group, try MOMS Club.

You might also try Little Gym or Bounce U in Bethlehem Township.

Default not necessarily

If OP is interested, she should contact the MOMS organization. Not every group has a website, as noted at the top, so the org. will tell her which one is the closest to her.
"Remember, not all chapter have websites! To find a chapter near you e-mail us at momsclub@aol.com!"

Or, if she doesn't want to drive, she can start her own. OP, you might also take a look at meetup.com
