We are considering a move from Columbus, Ohio to Easton, PA. I'm wondering what area's are the best for a family (we have three girls from 5-13). I love the charm of the downtown area so I would like to live within walking distance. Is there any other town in the vicinity like it? My husband's office is in Easton, PA so that is why we are considering that particular town.

Easton's 'downtown' is nothing worth going to, Bethlehem has a nice down town, and some of the area's north of easton have small main streets, (would not call them downtowns). For a family I would look in Palmer Twp, Forks, Williams Twp (Easton school regional district) Nazareth (Nazareth SD). Bethlehem Twp, or City of bethlehem (Bethlehem regional SD)

I think the size of the town and the importance of good schools may be very subjective. The schools in our city's do not have very good reputations. I, personally like the small downtown of Emmaus but that's a little far from Easton. Of the city's I think Bethlehem's is the nicest but the schools are problematic.

Easton PA is pretty, but small I LOVE IT , BUT I DO NOT THINK i WOULD LIVE THERE I AM AFRAID I WOULD BE TOTALLY BORED. I AM SO SORRY I DO NOT HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE SCHOOLS. BETHLEHEM IS PRETTY BUT IF YOU ARE OF OTHER ETHNICITY EXPLORE YOUR POSSIBILITIES. SOME PEOPLE IN BETHLEHEM ARE NOT ALL TOLERANT AND WELCOMING WHEN IT COMES TO DIVERSITY. CHECK OUT ALLENTOWN WHICH IS VERY CLOSE TO EASTON A HOP SKIP AND A JUMP. THE PEOPLE ARE DIVERSIFIED AND WELCOMING. THERE ARE POCKETS OF CRIME SO CHECK OUT THE NEIGHBORHOODS, BUT TRANSITION WILL CAUSE CRIME AND THE ECONOMY. YOU WILL LIKE ALLENTOWN COMING FOR COLUMBUS OHIO. CHECK OUT THE SCHOOLS THERE TOO.
I HOPE YOU HAVE LOTS OF SUCCESS IN FINDING A SUITABLE COMMUNITY TO SETTLE IN FOR YOU AND THE CHILDREN.

Please look at the sticky at the top of this page for more information about the Lehigh Valley, including school comparison sites.

I've got to say, I've never heard anyone actually recommend Bangor schools before. I've been to Bangor a couple of times and don't get the impression that new people would be welcomed.
