I have been looking at homes in the Allentown area, the Macungies, and Southern Lehigh. Can anyone comment on noise from nearby train crossings as well as from Lehigh Valley Airport?
I currently suffer from 5am train whistles and late night jet takeoffs that make it next to impossible to leave the windows open on nice evenings. Obviously I would like to avoid this in the future, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Macungie has a train that runs through it but depending on were you are it's not a problem.
A couple blocks from the tracks your pretty safe. I used to live about 3 blocks away from the crossing on main street, and in the dead of night it was a pleasent far away sound. If your looking at some of the new homes out rt.100 it should be ok.

Airplane noise in that area is next to nonexistant. Start getting toward Whitehall especially the south east end and it's a different matter.

In Allentown once you get away from Route 22 the airplane noise goes away.
22 is pretty much a straight shot to the runway.

Southern Lehigh I can't help you with.
