I'm not sure I understand. Did you get a job in downtown Allentown? You do know that we have NO passenger rail service up here, right? I can understand not wanting to live in Allentown, but no, it's not reasonable to commute from Philadelphia. We live just south of Allentown and go into Philadelphia fairly often but certainly not on a daily basis. We either take the train in from Lansdale or drive. My husband drives in every couple of weeks either for a band job or an Eagles game, where he has season tickets. According to google maps, it's almost an hour to Blue Bell, which is just about the same commute to Philadelphia. I sure wouldn't recommend that - the chance of an accident/traffic on 476, 76 or even 309 is pretty good.

Have you looked at Bethlehem? It's a vibrant little city and an easy commute to Allentown.
