Hello all,

Are there any gifted education schools in Bethlehem/Allentown/Catasauqua. They are often referred to as TAG (talented and gifted) or GAT (gifted and talented)

Thanks,
Tom

All schools (as far as I know) have a gifted program, but there is not a segregated school.

If I had a gifted student in the Bethlehem area and the tuition money, I'd send that student to Moravian Academy.

Tom,

A cople of years ago, our DD was in one of the NYC's gifted school, and we choose to move in Lehigh Valley. We were looking for Gifted Program as well. After speaking with lots of people, such as school principals (Public/Private/Catholic) , Gifted Program coordinators for East Penn and Parkland, and parents of some of the kids in the Gifted programs, finally decided to put our DD at Moravian. She is grouped in a class with other gifted students. We are very happy with the challenging/stimulating environment at Moravian and with her progress. Even though the tuition is an issue, we compromise at other expenses.

Hope this helps!

I would also mention that many parents transfer their kids from privates to public High Schools when they reach HS age. The gifted programs in my school district are pretty much enrichment through 8th grade. In HS, however, most classes have prerequisites which raises the bar considerably. For instance to take most of the AP classes at my son's HS you have to have had an A in the preceding regular class or a B in the honors one, plus you need the teachers permission and sign a form saying that you will do summer homework.

If your child's strengths are in the arts, perhaps the charter school? LVPA
