Every year, for the last 8 years, The State Theater holds an awards ceremony for Lehigh Valley and Warren County, NJ Performing Arts students where all schools are judged on their Spring Musical. It's sort of like the Tony's with categories ranging from Best Overall production to Scenery to Stage crew. It's broadcast live on Channel 69, The awards ceremony will be 7-10 p.m. May 26 at the State Theater in Easton. The State Theater is just a wonderful classic theater in downtown Easton.

I know a lot of people come here for our schools and while there is always talk of academics and sports, I wanted to put a plug in for the Performing Arts. It is alive and well here!

I hope Pen Argyl doesn`t get discouraged, first time back and not a single nomination.

Yeah, poor Pen Argyl. You would think that each school would be nominated for something. I don't always watch the live show, but this year several of my son's friends and classmates that I've known since elementary school are in the running for best performances so we'll be glued to the tube.
