I need to find a new place, and pretty quickly. I've never lived in an apartment before--I went from my parents' house to my girlfriend's house. I work near near Kutztown/Reading, but I don't mind the long commute. I've been driving it for over two years, and am fine with it. Plus, I go to school part time at NCC so I'd like to stay within Northampton. I like this area. Looking to move to somewhere around Bethlehem or Easton.

- When are you moving? ASAP
- Where are you coming from? Easton, PA
- Why are you moving? Split up with girlfriend, need to find new place to live.
- Where will you be working? Lyon Station, PA (about half-way between Allentown and Reading)
- Have you been here yet? Lived in Easton, visited Bethlethem

- Will you buy or rent? Rent
- If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? n/a
- If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? Apartment or loft. I'd like to spend no more than $800. If I can't find anything I like in that range, 30% of my monthly pre-tax income would be about $920. So, I'd say that's my absolute max, because I want to put a decent amount of money into savings.
- Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? no preference

- Are you married or single? Do you have children? Single, no children
- Do you prefer public or private schools? No preference
- Do you have pets? One cat
- Do you want or need a yard? No--but local parks/nearby hiking trails would be a plus.
- Are you keeping a car? Yes.
- Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? Calm.

- What do you want to be closest to? No real preferences--the main things of interest are food and gym. I generally shop at Wegmans and have a gym membership at LA Fitness.

- Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? No preference.

- Phillies or Mets? ...no preference.

So you make less than $40K / year and you are turning down the relatively cheap apartments in Kutztown in favor of a long expensive drive so that you can be near your community college.

In addition, you have a much better shot at finding a roomate in a college town.

Wouldn't it be better to shorten your commute and drive the distance to school and to be with your friends on weekends?
