I recently applied for an apartment rent. While applying it was informed to me that they will take 3 days to complete the processing. Within this time I can withdraw my application. But due to some lease agreement (They were not ready for short term rent), I decided not to go for the apartment. I applied on Tuesday and I had to inform them by Saturday if I do not want the appertment. I tried to call them on Friday but nobody picked up. I did not leave any voice message. Saturday I did not call them. I informed them on Monday. But as the 3 day time expired, they are asking me to provide daily rent until someone is renting that apartment.

It's almost 2 weeks and no one picked up the apartment. Is there any kind of law like this?

Any suggestion will be helpful.

If you just filled out an application, and didn't sign an actual lease, I can't see how you could be held responsible for rental payments.

If you gave them an application fee, you will probably lose that.

That is what my understanding also. I did not sign any actual lease. But they are asking daily rent till someone rent that apartment. It's OK to lose application money.

I am not getting any idea how to proceed.

I've never heard of this but I have little experience with rentals. Do you have a copy of your application? If not, ask them to show you on the application where it says that you are liable for this expense. I agree that you probably should lose the deposit since you didn't back out in time (why didn't you leave a message??) but don't think that you should have to pay for non-rental.
