Oh the other thing - Hockey/Skating. Skate Zone in South Bethlehem (brand new facility) is 10 minutes and the Lehigh Valley arena in Whitehall is also 10 minutes away making both convenient for those way early morning practices!

In answer to one of your first questions, Bethlehem is about 15 minutes from Macungie area.

Check out Emmaus-it's a great place to live and close to everything. Parts of Upper Milford Twp are still in East Penn SD but you'd have lower taxes and more space available. I do highly recommend the EPSD though.

Default whitehall is best for you.

THANKS to the many of you who have posted in my threads and helped me through this maze of relocation stresses! I'm fortunate and thankful to have found this Board.

We still will need another trip out. We looked at areas like Lower Macungie, Upper Macungie, some area more rural (I forget the name) but it was in Northern Lehigh district (?), we looked a little at Hanover, and I think a few other places as well.

I have to kids who want to be near ice. My son plays hockey (we are a Minnesota family) and my daughter is a pre-juvenile level figure skater.

The realtor just sent us some homes by e-mail in Bethlehem township. Any opinions???

Since I don't want to live in the car (needing to make approx. 6 trips a week to the ice arena -- at least) and having 2 other kids as well, makes us consider living closer in. However, we had our heart set on having a little land -- even if it is just 1/2 acre, with some trees and a little calmer atmosphere. My kids have all expressed that this would make moving a little better for them, as we are big outdoors people and would like our home to have a little space. I would rather be driving to an ice rink than living in a home that is near crime areas or is too busy and city like.

We did find some nice neighborhoods that had larger lots (.5 acre) in the upper and lower macungies -- and it seems a decent commute to shopping, libraries, etc.

What are your thoughts about near Bethlehem? What is a commute time from Macungie area to Bethlehem? Or are there any other hockey programs other than the BLAST at the Steel Center? My dh isn't ready to give up our hockey yet
whitehall pa is best for you, maybe coplay and nothhamton pa. Whitehall has a ice skating rink and the houses are very nice for sale. They are over 100,000 dollars. They have the mall and food places. It is safe there and they have a good school. You would be close to allentown pa. 2 miles to 3 miles away but i do not know if you would come into the city. Jobs are good there. You could google jobs and house for sale. I think i heard that they have a hockey program at this rink. The rink is only 10 to 15 years old. The also have a roller skating rink that is very nice too. They also have good kids that live there from good families.

Austere moved to Lower Macungie last year. If you click on a poster's name you'll see a link that says, "Find all posts by ____" Once you click on that link you can quickly see the most recent posts, which usually include some information about where they are currently living.
