If you are looking for a nice place to take a walk, consider one of the Rail Trails in the area. Our family took a long walk today from Upper Saucon Park in Center Valley to Hellertown. Lower Saucon Township - Parks & Recreation - Saucon Rail Trail We decided to go just one way so parked our car in Hellertown at the park on Water Street. On Sunday's there's a very nice Farmers Market there so it's a nice place to end. OTOH, the Upper Saucon Park has a playground and a pavilion, so that might be fun for those with younger children.

The walk is pretty level and mostly shaded. There were benches every once in awhile and it was hot enough that we stopped a few times. It's just shy of five miles each way.

I have to admit that I was a little upset that they turned those rails into trails, thinking that they killed the possibility of a rail link to the commuter rail in Bucks County. But I think the park use is preferred.

I met a visionary who believed that we should be turning the old rail lines into parks routinely. He felt that it keeps us tied to the past. The future vision rests in line near or above freeways, with a modern propulsion system.
