Is anyone familiar with the amount of traffic on Sauerkraut Lane between Coventry and Stout Dr (Millbrook Farms area)? I know Sauerkraut in general is well-traveled, but wasn't sure about that particular stretch of it. We are thinking about a house that backs into Sauerkraut, but wondered if there might be too much car traffic in terms of noise and safety (we have a toddler and baby). We could always put up a gate for safety I guess and some trees for aesthetics, but didn't know about the noise factor. Thank you for your input.

June 3, 2011 Child Struck by Car at Willow and Sauerkraut Lanes (about 2 miles from your neighborhood). The boy was in the road when he was hit and he was conscious when the Lower Macungie Fire Chief arrived on the scene. The accident happened at 5:55 p.m. Friday

The neighborhood you are talking about is very expensive ($500K-$600K), and the lots are all over half an acre. I would think you could build in a noise break, but I have never been down that street.

Trees make a good natural noise barrier but it might take a few years for them to grow large enough to block out traffic noises.

This accident happened during the Willow Lane end of school festival. People were encouraged to walk, but they did not have anyone directing traffic, and at the 4 way stop, a car jumped the gun.

The school board juts voted in a budget that would eliminate buses for anyone within 1.5 miiles of Willow Lane school (that's us!), so the traffic on Sauerkraut is going to be an issue at drop off and pick up times.

Benlilmom, to me, the traffic is wicked on Sauerkraut and I would imagine it is pretty loud. Many commercial vehicles use it as a shortcut through the township. My buddy was almost clipped today by a truck from Bear Creek while he was commuting to work on his bicycle. When he called Bear Creek, they were very apologetic, but this kind of stuff happens all the time. Sauerkraut is like a speedway.

I hope they get crossing guards for the 4-way intersection now that the children will be potentially walking/riding bicycles to school and a slew of parental vehicles will be joining in on the traffic. I have walked and ridden through that 4-way intersection, and many motorists simply drift on through without coming to a complete stop. I venture to guess that parents running late for school will also be driving aggressively through there. It boggles my mind that people drive so recklessly there in such a nice township with so many beautiful homes.

LOL! It's just a horrid name for a street. We live off of Sauerkraut Lane - thank God we're not on it, I don't think I could have bought the house
