I'm not an expert, but it being frozen doesn't appear to affect the taste at all. The flavor far exceeds any beef I've eaten anywhere before. I will be getting another quarter from Harvest Home Meats!

I received approximately 80 lbs of meat for $655. That's $8.19/lb. I feel that I got a great deal for a quality product. In a grocery store, I'd pay more per pound for some cuts, and less for others.

It sounds like you will make out from the website. Precisely how well you do will vary from person to person.

From what I saw on the Harvest Home website, these cows are on the small side. The boxed meat for the whole cow is 280-320 pounds.

From information posted on many website, the hanging weight is 70% of live weight, and box weight is often 70% of hanging weight. That means 70%*70%=49%, or you lose half the cow. Most steers are listed as 1000 to 1200 lbs for live weight,

There is considerable variation in these numbers, but it still seems like the original cow is not very heavy.

We used to buy our raw milk from Klein's, but found out that they use corn to supplement their feed. They are only 75% grass fed. We now only buy from Keepsake Farm on High Street just east of Nazareth. The milk is much richer and has a smoother taste with lots of cream on top. We also buy eggs and meat from them. It's the best around. Unpasteurized milk contains all the probiotics and beneficial enzymes that are lost during the Pasteurization process. I have to laugh when people are afraid to drink raw milk, but then their family is constantly taking antibiotics because they have no resistance to bacteria. Go figure. The immune system needs those good bacterium to combat the bad. We sometimes scoop the cream off the top to churn our own butter. A little salt and you will never want store bought butter again. Of course we also scoop off the cream for our coffee too. We find it worth the drive to acquire a quality product. We try to eat 100% raw and organic. Our diet and exercise program has been a priority to our lifestyle for several years. It has paid off well in the long run.

Keepsake Farm is like a gift from God.
And I don't think raw milk in itself is the problem..
The trustworthiness of the producer is the problem.
If all dairy farms were like Keepsake we wouldn't even be having the raw milk debate.
