hi, I'm currently self employed (working from home on corp 2 corp) - in a single member LLC (S-corp election for tax purposes) and pay myself with a w-2.

If I move to upper nazareth twp, do I need to pay the 1.2% earned income tax?

I tried to look for some info online and the closest I found is the form on their website where it asks for total number of employees (excluding self) which gives the impression that self employed need not pay? If anyone in a similar situation can advice me that would be great. If not, my next step is to call the twp office to find out more. thanks

Also, do I need to buy unemployment insurance even if I'm self employed? thanks

I'm 99% sure you have to pay the EIT (1.2%). I don't think there is a (legal) way out of it.

I would be surprised if you didn't have to pay UI. I spoke to my accountant re hiring a nanny (as an independent contractor), and he said that she would have to pay UI as a contractor. I don't know for sure though.
