Paco, This poster will be working in Easton so no need for a NJ commute.

Thank you all for the comments!!! It really means a lot. Makes me feel "home" already with all this good advice.

We are looking into Emmaus at a particular house. It is East Penn SD, I'm excited about that. Since in our research and by your accounts it seems to be a great SD.

My husband's commute would be a bit over half an hour (but that beats his already 1.5 hour commute into PA). For me its better as the hospitals are closer by, which is where I would be working. So I would be close to my son's school. :-)

I'm (we are) super excited, and you're right, I do love New Jersey but with the opportunities of having our own house here in a good town, with great SD that makes it worth the move.

We have family in the area, and don't mind the (some) weekend drives back to NJ/NY. Our parents and close NJ family members drive and don't mind it, as we've done it to visit other relatives here in PA.

We are super excited, nervous and everything in between. :-)

East Penn is a great school district and Emmaus is a great town! The one caution we hear on this forum about people that move to Emmaus is to pay attention to your house location and the train tracks. There is a freight train line that runs all the way through town and they do blow the whistle quite frequently. I would think that would be something that I would get used to, but some posters said they could not.

While Lehigh Valley hospital is indeed very close a commutable to Emmaus, there are several hospitals in the Lehigh Valley. Are you not planning to apply at all of them? If that's the case and you both wind up with jobs East of Allentown, you may find that living in Emmaus is not the best location. I would look closely at the over crowding situation in East Penn. They have experienced tremendous growth in the SD and it's been challenging to keep up with it.

If you are seriously looking at East Penn, I would also suggest my smaller school district, Southern Lehigh. We built a new school a few years ago to alleviate overcrowding.
