You can take a look in the Slate Belt area. Wind Gap and Pen Argyl have a lot of houses in the $150K and lower range. Its about 30 minutes from here to Allentown area.
I was going to reccomend the Slatebelt area as well. Nazareth, Pen Argyl, Parts of Bangor, Roseto. All about 45 minutes to Allentown.

I just checked for you as far as the "reasonable" part. The cheapest house in Wind Gap is listed right now at $189,900. There are some lower-priced ones in Pen Argyl, Roseto, and Bangor right now, but they are going to need some work or be very tiny in the lower price range.

As the area gets more developed, the commute to Allentown gets worse and worse depending upon the time of day. Route 512 (the main Slate Belt artery) is getting so slow during rush times as well.

I don't want alot of do overs. We could do that here. But our rooms are too small. We are a corner lot . Access to stores and malls. Less than stone through away 0=1miles away. We cant expand the property. But we are retired. Been here 30 yrs, Looking for some open spaces. but not out in the boonies!
Next house we need one floor layout. Rec area down stairs. and large yard.

Lindasue, You should probably start a new thread. You've hooked on to one that is three years old. I'm not quite sure what you are looking for... A house on a big lot close to shopping?
