It's that time of year again! I know some people don't like Musikfest due to the crowds, but I like it and usually go out once or twice. Last night I got to see the Sheryl Crow concert with some friends and really enjoyed it. Parking was no problem and the crowds were moderate. We tend to go to the South Side for paid events and spend another night on the North side to wander around, visit the craft stuff, free bands and have a bite to eat. My husband is looking forward to seeing Steely Dan tomorrow night. Anyone else venturing out?

We are going to try and go next Sunday. My issue is that I don't really like any of the bands performing. I like some of Sheryl Crow's songs, but not enough to pay to see her.

Sheryl Crow is good. Steely Dan is fine. I am just not excited enough to pay to see them. I would say that the Southside portion is better. The festival is overall played out and way too big. The scam of it being non-profit is no longer accepted by people with common sense and average intelligence. Jeff Parks is retiring a Millionare aoff his non-profit venture. The city should remove the non-profit tag from the new successor. The so called music festival attracts thousands of people who really do not care about music. They just want to eat and drink to excess. The issues on Main St. so well reported by the true paper, The Express Times should signal the end of the Main st. portion of Musikmess. Ultimately it should be fenced off and admission should be charged. Local bars should not participate in the refill mug promotion as doing so promotes increased drinking and drunkedness resulting in possible liability on their part . Musikmess is a major inconvenience to the citizens of Bethlehem. It may have been great in 1983-84 but those innocent days have long since passed. End or change Musikfest!!!

I have mixed feelings about Musikfest and artsquest. I love that they bring events and arts education to the area. My personal experience there was not so good... actually just several very rude interactions with one executive there. She basically called me on three separate occasions just to berate me for my interest in their organization. Weird.
