I have heard that Don Pablos is in the process of closing all of its non-profitable stores. So some of them will be going away, others are staying. I guess they are trimming the fat.

Don Pablos is junk! Go to Lupita's in Bethlehem. Even the casual fast food, tex mex style restaurant, Tulum on Morton St. behind Lupita is good.

Chipotle is not like Don Pablos or On the Border...it is basically a Burrito fast food. We eat there all the time and love it. Similar to Qdobas. Moe's sorta but not as good.

Gosh, I've never been to any of the places mentioned in your post smithson! We went to a really small place in Allentown that tasted very authentic, but I can't remember the name. It was in the South side of town pretty close to the Good Shepherd rehab place. There's a Mexican restaurant in Coopersburg that has mixed reviews. When we visited it seemed pretty bland and more tex-mex then real Mexican, but perhaps we ordered the wrong things. I make mexican food pretty often as we all like quesidillas and fajitas and I can make them as spicy as I want.

haha...well, these burrito places are certainly not authentic mexican. And depending on how you order, not healthy either! However it can be ordered healthy.

Just another spin on mexican type food for the masses.

I don't go to Chipotle for authentic mexican, I go there for a quick borrito bol with fajita chicken and tons of salsa!

I would like to know of a good authentic mexican restaurant though, so the posts have been helpful.

Noodles? Never heard of it, but I'm guessing Chinese or Sushi, maybe both.

As far as driving 30 miles....I have to drive 50 miles to get my favorite Hot Dog at Yocco's, so I know your pain. :O)

Don Pablo's? Yuck. Chain Mexican food is not good. Chain food is pretty much second rate no matter where you go. There's a Don Pablo's here in Dickson City near Scranton, and its horrible. Its no better than Taco Bell. Best bet is to look for a local non-chain Mexican restuarant. With the high population of Hispanics in the Lehigh Valley, I would bet there are lots of options for family-owned authentic Mexican food.

I feel your pain on the hot dogs....the best hot dogs in the world, Hot Dog Johnny's in Buttzille, NJ, is also about 50 miles from me. Although Abe's in Wilkes-Barre is also very good.

Don Pablos SUCKS! As for Chipotle, it is one of the most overrated fast food joints in America. We're talking about a part of the country with some of the most wonderful mom and pop restaurants anywhere, and people are boo hooing about the lack of CHAIN RESTAURANTS!???? That is what most of us try to get AWAY from!!! If you want a bunch of crappy, generic chain restaurants, move to LA, Houston, Dallas or Atlanta!
