Hi everyone,

My wife and I will be moving to Center Valley PA from Easton (Williams Township) PA by the end of this month. I am trying to get info about home utilities in that area. One that I am trying to figure out is the internet service. We currently have the bundled service of TV/internet/phone through RCN, however based on a brief internet search, it seems that our only option in Center Valley would be Service Electric with DirectTV. Can anyone give me some info on what other providers I may consider? Thanks.

Service Electric internet is provided by PenTeleData It is $44.95 for 25 Mbps down/ 2 Mbps up, but Non-cable subscribers will be billed an additional $10.00 / mo.
Cable & Internet w/ Full Basic Lineup ... $96.99 / mo

So that is $55 for internet, and an additional $42 for cable TV. I can't see how you are going to save money past the first year teaser rate with DirectTV!

RCN is $30/$40/$50 per mo. for 25 Mbps download speed over first three years (3-Yr Price Assurance). So even in the 3rd year it is still $5 cheaper than PenTeleData.

Internet and Cable TV Service Provider in Lehigh Valley - RCN service areas
Both Center Valley and Coopersburg are listed as RCN service areas.

I used to live in Center Valley and had RCN, so it's available in the town, but maybe isn't in your particular neighborhood?

What would you consider the "town" of Center Valley? We have service electric where I live near Coopersburg and that's our only choice for cable. Some people do have both RCN and service electric cable choices, but it's pretty common NOT to have a choice.

Thanks for all the responses. I will call RCN to ask if they do cover our area, which is Center Valley Manor.

Coopersburg borough has both choices of RCN and Service Electric, and DSL from Frontier.

DSL would be available from either Frontier (if the development is in the Coopersburg exchange) or Verizon (if it's Allentown). Coopersburh is 282 and that part of "Allentown" I believe would be 798.

Coopersburg old numbers are 282, but they can be anything now. It is confusing because most of us in the SL school district have Coopersburg addresses but only a small portion live in the borough. I have Service Electric for my internet provider. We no longer have cable but use sling tv.

Well, not "anything," but yes, there is more than 610-282 now: Local calling guide: Rate centre information

What I meant was, a Coopersburg phone number (any one of those exchanges listed at that site) is serviced by Frontier and NOT Verizon. Frontier actually cares about landline Internet customers and thus has upgraded DSL and IMO will continue to do so for the foreseeable future. People often write off DSL as "old" technology, but, if updated like Frontier has done, can really compete with the speeds of cable. Especially vs. Service Electric.

So after looking, I found that dsl is NOT available, and the only other options are satellite internet through Hughes and cable internet through Service Electric. I will likely go with service electric, so are they any good?

We use them, just for internet and phone now, but we have used them for cable/internet/phone for a few years before and they're fine. I don't know anyone that uses Hughes. In fact, I'm not even familiar with that provider. Is there another name for them?
