I'm not familiar with many independent mechanics in the area. As for dealers, Chevy 21 is only a few miles from Lehigh University and Faulkner Chevy is probably just as close to Moravian College. Those are the closest Chevy dealers.

I use the dealership now, but for this type of issue (you know exactly what's wrong and what to fix) I have used Jeff's on William Penn Highway. They seemed pretty solid and reasonable.

We use a local place just South of Coopersburg, but I wouldn't especially recommend it for a college student in Bethlehem. For recalls we've used the Chevy dealer on Emaus Avenue by the South Mall and thought they were very good. Even though we are not their regular customers, and didn't buy any cars from them, they serviced the recalls and didn't recommend any crazy other fixes as I thought they might.

It may be kind of far, but I have had recommended to me Miller Tire in Perkasie. I went there once, too, to have my brakes checked recently, and they were totally honest. They could have lied to me and said I needed new rotors, but they said everything checked out. I would have no problem going back there, since their honesty earned my trust. Here is their website: Perkasie PA Tires & Auto Repair | Miller Tire & Auto
