Hello, all! Currently, my husband and I live in the Bethlehem area of the Lehigh Valley. We are renting but planning to buy soon. We located some properties that we liked in Palmerton, but later read about that area being a Superfund area. How safe is it to live there? Does anyone know of the status of the cleaning up that has been done? Any information would be greatly appreciated!

OK, never mind! We drove through there and had second thoughts.

Please share what you thought of Palmerton. I didn't comment, because I don't know first hand. We have family that lives up there and I've only been up there for family events. I liked their wide main street and the town, in general, looks nice.

Well, I thought that it looked to be a charming little town, with beautiful views of the mountains. But we were put off by the Superfund issues; even though I read elsewhere in these forums that a lot of progress has been made, I just didn't feel comfortable moving someplace where they are promising to work on the water issues but not until next year. While it is truly amazing how much was accomplished so far, we decided against it for those reasons.
