DanniGirl,

I don' think in either case you would be making a bad decision. I would say let the property make the decision for you. If you can find something in either area that the home (whether renting or buying) works for you and you can get a sweet deal, then tahs were your heart belongs. Best advice I can give anyone in your situation.

Thanks
Jeff

we are moving to the macungie area in the spring, everything we saw about it we loved, and I am very confident that i will be happy with the schools.

what i did was i picked an area, then narrowed it down to school districts. then we picked some developments and looked at them with a buyers agent. from there we just looked at what they had to offer, incentives and stuff.
it was hard, but i know i made the right decision.
good luck
kathy

Both areas are nice. We live in Lower Macungie, but I've been to Coopersburg and it's very cute.

Both have good schools, but Lower Macungie is booming right now, so you have a lot of new comers, where Coopersburg seems to be more established.

It depends on what you want - we wanted a community with other transplants like ourselves, so here we are.

Again, wither way, you can't go wrong.

Actually, I would say that most of the people that are moving in are newcomers, it's just that we don't have as much growth. The upside of that is that we're better able to keep up with the growth in the schools.

Are you talking about Coopersburg or Macungie?

Sorry, I had not had my entire cup of coffee Southern Lehigh has much slower growth then East Penn. Southern Lehigh consists of the townships of Lower Milford and Upper Saucon and the borough of Coopersburg. East Penn consists of the towns of Macungie and Emmaus. Each of these towns are larger then Coopersburg. Both districts are building or planning to build new schools but when you have as much growth as East Penn has, it's really hard to keep up.

Hi DanniGirl - here's a little different perspective. I'm actually a native to the area (grew up in Macungie, and moved away for 15 years). As a product of public school education - graduate of Emmaus HS - I believe it was a terrific education. I played lots of sports throughout high school, and it was a great small-town feel. The area was really a bunch of cornfields, and really spread out.

Fast forward to present - I'm now a mom of 3 kids - 7, 5, and 3. We moved back to Lehigh Valley about 3.5 years ago from Washington DC to escape the congestion. I decided specifically on Upper Saucon area, because I wanted a smaller school district and i was particularly interested in the spanish immersion program (my hubby is hispanic, but alas speaks not a lick to our kids!) I loved that fact that in Center Valley, we could easily get almost anywhere in the Lehigh Valley easily. (BEFORE the bypass, i felt as though you were "tucked away" in Macungie).

However, as my daughter was about to start kindergarden 3 years ago my husband felt very strongly about sending her to St. Thomas More as opposed to the spanish education. A battle I lost, but I am very happy about it! So here we are now...i live in Center Valley, but send my daughter to school "over there"! Amazing how things work out! In any case, we are probably looking to move in a couple years to be a bit closer to West Allentown, but as of yet, I haven't been motivated to move because I just really like my neighborhood, the proximity to highways, the new promenade shops, and upper saucon township amenities, etc...

So...there you have it! A whole lot of information, and nothing helpful! I guess what I can really say...is whatever your choice is, it will be fabulous...good luck!
