Hi.
My family is looking into moving to the Palmer township area and buying a single family home. Work is in the Poconos area. We are liking the Palmer area because it is very convenient (close to 33, 22, shopping amenities like Wegmens, Target, Sams Club, etc.). IN case of a job change to NJ there is good connectivity. Is there any hope that the schools in this area will improve? There seams to be a lot of new construction in this Palmer and Tatamy area so I am guessing that is a good sign of growth and development? Any info about this area would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

My understanding is that the Palmer elementary and middle schools are fine, but the High School (which merges with Easton) isn't highly rated (I have heard good things about the EAHS if the student is honors/ AP though).

You are also correct about the ton of houses going up and construction. It's going to be a very different area in the next 10 years, especially if they build up the new exit off of Rt 33 (just north of the Wegmans/ Walmart).

You can also look into the NASD since it's basically on the other side of 33 compared to Palmer.

Check the property taxes in Palmer on each potential house before you buy. They are ridiculous and pushing 10k/year for newer colonial-style homes.

Palmer Township does not have it's own middle school. Residents of Palmer and Forks Townships attend Easton Area Middle School along with everyone else who lives in Easton City. To answer your question, when you're dealing with an urban area with a wide demographic you're simply not going to have as high ratings as a school that is strictly suburban. That said, we've been happy thus far with our elementary school and so far our middle school experience in Easton.
