Okay, so I was fired from company A ~8 months ago. On their file for me they have "do not rehire". Anyway, company A is about to be bought out by company B. So my question is that if I were to apply to company B after company A gets finalized in their buyout am I therefore eligible for rehire? Mind you, company B is keeping all the same personnel and simply changing the name of the company.

I would be surprised if Combany B will keep/ convert the HR files of Company A for former employees. It’s possible and it’s possible that both companies use an outsourced HR provider.

What usually happens is that the acquiring company’s back office is kept and the Target’s is let go (not always, but more often that not), so if you apply to Companh B, there may not even be HR people from Company A.
