Seems as if real estate taxes have gone up allot in past few years in Lehigh Valley. What is your take on it as a homeowner?

Eventually runaway property tax increases going to keep a lid on any further increases in housing prices, in my opinion. I am already seeing this in parts of NJ further east. And property taxes in places like Palmer and Forks Townships aren't much less than municipalities in Warren County, NJ or some other parts of western NJ.

I don't think my taxes have increased in the last 4-5 years, but the EIT (1.1% or whatever it is of gross income sucks). Why should I pay more local tax if I happen to have a good year at work and get a bigger bonus? I'm already paying at the max rate on that money anyway.

Also, I agree with John. The higher tax is and will keep housing prices down (just like a higher interest rate). People have budgets and if you can spend say $3K/ month on housing (mortgage principal + interest + tax + utilities) and the interest rate and taxes creep up, the principal (or housing price) will drop.
