Hi all,

I am looking for a decent apartment to rent in or around Allentown. Basically within 20-25 minutes or so of driving to Allentown, Fogelsville, Breinigsville.

Somewhere safe. Off-street/private parking would definitely be preferred. And AC/central cooling would also definitely be preferred for those hot Summer months.

I don't have any pets, and tend to be very clean and quiet at home. I'm currently studying part-time in addition to working. So other than that, I don't have a preference about it. More amenities is great, but I probably won't use most things through the rest of the year anyway.

Mostly what I'm finding so far is in the $1,300+ range which, while I can afford it, definitely limits my monthly savings. I couldn't afford to live in a $1,600+ apartment.

The cost of living is not a left/right issue. It is criminal. A friend told me soon there will be riots in the streets. I totally believe him.

^ what?

The southside of Allentown is filled of what you are looking for. Based on your criteria, I am assuming the quality of schools doesn't matter, and thats what makes the southside of Allentown attractive.

Can you point me to an apartment or two so I know which area you're talking to? I'm not a native to the Lehigh Valley or Allentown. I basically commute a long distance from a relative's place while I'm looking.

The landlordism is getting out of hand and accelerating the hollowing out of families and communities, that's for sure.

My friend in Phoenix has reported rents are kind of stabilizing a little in Phoenix, and he was shocked to see the prices in Allentown.

The best way to hedge against apartment inflation is to buy a house.
