I noticed at a few places that people are saying that "schools are starting early this year." I was just if there was a special reason. I seem to remember school used to start after labor day.

Our district schools start on the 2nd. It's always the first Tuesday after labor day. One year they did it the week before labor day but got all kinds of flack. Mostly because people tend to book their vacations 6 months to maybe a year in advance and the district only gave a three month notice. I would rather they start this week and end earlier in June but I don't think the start date will change unless the parents push for it.

Strange, here in Williams Township buses came around to pick up the local kids. I wonder if it's something special.

That's just another interesting thing about PA education - many things are decided by the districts, not the state.

Bethlehem school district has been starting the last week in August and finishing the first week of June for quite a few years now.

In the past it had always been right after Labor Day and finish up around June 13 or so. Not sure why they changed it...
