Hi I am Trisha

I home schooled my children years ago but now I have some in the school district I know how tough it is to get extra activities for kids not being in the district so as a RESPONSIBLE and MATURE theater director I have opened the doors of RAUB middle school for evening theater for all kids 5-10th grade to join with us and be a part of our theater group here at raub. YES it is a city school and there are some SCAREY things being said around that YOU should keep your kids away from allentown kids BUT lets be for real! What kind of witness would jesus have made if he only spoke to those that beleived what he beleived! ANYWAY I have my own kids in the theater for the past two years and have had no problems. I ALSO have a lot of backing from teachers and administration. I have directed four shows there and am working on # 5 and they have gone great! We are doing GREASE in the spring... so lets work together and if your scared for your child then come and be a part of the show! I am welcoming teachers and parents to join in the fun this year. LETS not let rumors and negative feelings hinder what good this could do for your child and the kids at RAUB- by the way i have mostly honor students in theater- they seem to be the kids that can commit- practices are at 6pm so all the other kids are gone for the day
Blessings and have a great day!!
Trisha

The OP is talking about a theatre program for homeschooled kids....

Greatschools is a gossip site where anyone can write anything, sort of like a bulletin board.

It's the best website out there that show's almost every statistic for the specific SD. You must be a realtor.

The two websites I recommend for schools are SchoolMatters - Find a School (http://www.schoolmatters.com/schools.aspx/q/page=fnd - broken link) and Search for Pennsylvania public schools. Both of these sites deal with scores and demographics. I prefer that to highly subjective opinions. No, I am not a realtor but we have bought four houses, and lived in five states and four counties in Pennsylvania, so I do feel I have some experience. How about you EmmausRocks? What's your story - have you bought or rented a few houses?

I'm so tired of people on this forum putting down Allentown. People should stop believing everything they read on this forum. Allentown has some great areas and please, Allentown doesn't even compare to ghettos that other cities have. Do you think that the kids from Parkland and East Penn aren't buying their drugs from gangs in Allentown? There is trouble in all schools. Just because a school doesn't have the best test scores doesn't mean that the teachers don't care. Test scores are linked to income, especially on tests like the SAT. And just because someone isn't white or doesn't have a lot of money doesn't mean that they can't participate in a theater group and have a good time with all kinds of kids. I don't have any children, but I think that the theater group sounds like a great activity.
