Hi all,

I have read several threads regarding various communities in Lehigh County but still have a few questions. I am in the process of being recruited for a good job in Allentown. The info I am seeking is what communities offer decent safe housing (I will need to rent for a while until I get settled in the job and prefer to rent a house), affordable, a decent commute, etc. Schooling is not important as my kids are grown. Will be looking for a three bedroom place that will accept a cpl of small pets. Any advice/information will be deeply appreciated.

Bill

There really are no bad small towns surrounding Allentown or Bethlehem. Your biggest problem is going to be finding a rental house in the first place and then getting them to agree to accept pets. I've found that most rental homes are not listed in the paper. People just advertise them by putting a sign up in their front yard or maybe put them on Craig's list. craigslist: lehigh valley classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events The most walkable small town (IMHO) is Emmaus. Hellertown, Coopersburg, Macungie and Nazareth also have nice town centers.
