Yesterday friends of ours (okay, son's of friends of ours) opened up a little bookstore in Emmaus. I had been looking forward to the grand opening party for a couple of weeks but the snowstorm changed my mind and I didn't want to chance going over the hill and sliding down. It looks like Emmaus had a real little Christmas celebration going Emmaus Main Street Program - Home (http://www.emmausmainstreet.com/home2.htm - broken link) Did anyone get to participate?

My own town of Coopersburg had a tree lighting ceremony and carriage rides last night. Next week, on Sunday, December 13th, will be a community Carol sing where groups of people (anyone can participate) gather at three different points in town and carol throughout the town and meet up at city hall for cookies and cocoa with Santa Claus. Community Calendar Click on the dates on the calendar for more details.

What else is going on in the Valley this holiday season?

I hope that bookstore stays open. We shop in Emmaus because of the nice atmosphere and variety of local businesses. Many stores in Emmaus come and go within 6 months. I never could understand why. That's a great little area to shop in. That little book store is the previous spot of a collector card establishement.

I was in downtown Bethlehem last night with my husband for his company Christmas party at the Hotel Bethlehem. Every time we go there at this time of year, I'm impressed with how much the city has re-invented itself. It was too cold out for casual strolling but as we passed by restaurants we could see lots of people inside eating and people in stores enjoying themselves. The trees were all decked out with sparkly white lights and we saw 2 carriages being drawn by horses. If you are not already a Bethlehem resident, I suggest that you take advantage of the Christmas City this holiday season and visit. ChristmasCity.org - Bethlehem, Pennsylvania - Homepage
