I am really curious about moving to your state. I am retired with wife and 2 young children. I am looking for some recommendations on a permanent place to live in Pennslyvania. I would desire good schools and quality of life. And not to sound rude, work isn't that importatant any job would do. My home in NY, is paid off, so proceeds from the sale would 100%. So I would be able to swing a huge down payment.Anyway any info would be great. I have searched the forum, but come to dead ends. Any help again is wonderful.

It would really depend do you want to live in a more rural area or in an area where you are close to everything? I did both and am happy now in Bethlehem. I too am from the city. I would suggest renting for a year and getting a feel for the area before you buy, I wish I would have done that if I did we wouldnt have end up in the Poconos.

Read up on Lehigh Valley Real Estate. Do a search and you'll see. What's it matter though you dont worry about money or anything. I would guess someone as well off as you would have already been around the world and could tell all of us about differerent places.

Hi Andy,

I'm here from NY 4 years ago and it's great...

I would suggest coming here for a weekend and get a feel of the different towns here whether it's the Lehigh Valley or the Pocono region. The schools systems here are great overall so it will really come down to your personal preference.

I also agree with valentine92 in renting short term as part of getting a true feel of the area. We can all tell you the pros or cons, but I think you coming here to see for yourself would fare better and give you more clarity.
