I have heard that drive-ins are still existant in the Lehigh Valley....is this true? If so, where is it? I'd love to take the kids. I have great memories of going to see movies at the drive-in but they did away with them from where I am from

Ah, there are TWO drive in's within driving distance. They are both great. My favorite is Becky's - Becky's Drive-In Theatre - Berlinsville PA This is close to Blue Mountain but is definitely worth the drive. It has a real retro feel with an open area for kids to play frisbee in pre-show and a neat little snack bar. On many weekends they offer special little events. You'll see a wide range of people from families with little kids in pj's to teens to adults. The other place is Shankweilers http://www.shankweilers.com/schedule.php in Orefield out by Lehigh-Carbon Community College. Lot's of people from Allentown go here. It's a little more crowded but still fun. Both open around Memorial Day.

The Shankweiler Drive-in is on Route 309 in Orefield.
Here's the website - Shankweiler's Drive-In Theatre, Orefield PA (Pennsylvania)

It's a blast!

Becky's is awesome - if you subscribe to their E-mail newsletter, they will send you the list of movies and special events. The night we were there they had pony rides and my kids just loved it.

There is also a poll on Becky's website right now where you can request which movies you'd like to see in 2010.
