Hello my family and I are looking to relocate to Northhampton County, can anyone give me advise on what towns to look into first. I was looking at Bethlehem, Palmer, Easton. Schools are important and if course low crime and family friendly neighborhoods. what school dist is better Easton or Bethlehem? We will be coming from Long Island NY and Hubby will be comutting into NJ so an easy cummute would be nice too. Just not sure where tio start looking at first we are going down in Feb to see some areas any of your help woul dbe nice.

thank you

Easton and Bethlehem are city's. Do you want to live in a city? Commute wise Easton is further East, but if schools are your priority, you will want to stay out of they city's entirely. It might be helpful if you fill out the questionnaire at the top of the Lehigh Valley forum.

Well I can give you my opinion, born and raised in Brooklyn, moved to the Poconos in 1996. Moved to Bethlehem in 2001. We love it here. My husband worked in Bethlehem since 1996 and commuted until we moved in 2001. There are many nice areas in Bethlehem, I personally like the North and West side of town and also Bethlehem Township and Hanover Township. My son has been going to school here since kingergarten and we have had no problems with the schools at all. I know nothing about Easton. You might want to rent first for a year to get a feel for the area and where you want to end up buying. You should have no problem getting a house for under 300,000 in Bethlehem if you choose to. As far as crime is concerned I have never felt unsafe in Bethlehem. You should also consider visiting some of the local schools in the neighborhood that you want to move into, that might help you make your decision. There are 16 elementary schools in the city, that feed into 4 middle schools and 2 high schools. Some parts of the city are more diverse than others so make sure you visit often and walk around and talk to people. Good luck in your search!
