I need some help narrowing down a good neighborhoods for my family. I have accepted a job at Lehigh University in Bethlehem starting in August. I have middle school children at this point and want to be in a good school district especially high school that will come up in another year. Due to a disability, I need to rely on public transportation for my commute, so that is another important factor in finding the right neighborhood. Any neighborhood that is within a 10-15 minute walk to a bus route will be ideal.I would also like the neighborhood to be safe. Can anyone point me to what neighborhoods I should be looking at? We will visit the area later in May and tour with a realtor. But having some idea beforehand will be useful so we have done our research. I like the Lehigh Valley Charter School but it seems it has a waitlist and there is no guarantee my kids can even get in.The Parkland High School area also looks good, but I am not sure if it will be easy to commute from there to Lehigh U. LANTA seems to have some new changes to its service coming https://lantabus.com/june-2023-service-changes/. LANTA Van may also be an option but I do not know how convenient and timely it is.

Breinigsville/Trexlertown Pa come to mind. Rated high with low crime rate.
Lanta bus 103 approx 8 min walk to bus and 1hr.20.min bus ride to University.

Best wishes.

Thanks! I noticed that the lower Saucon Valley was also well connected by transit. Schools seem to be good too. Not sure about general walkability to essentials like groceries etc.

Can anyone please tell me a bit about the LantaVan. The web site says it is both a paratransit service and shared ride service for those who do not live near fixed route service. Can someone confirm that proximity to fixed route service is thus not necessary to avail this service? Neighborhoods I am identifying(lower saucon township be ause of proximity to Bethlehem and good schools) are not always convenient to the fixed route service. This shared ride option can be a lifesaver for me. Thanks.

Bethlehem has some lovely neighborhoods. I would stick as close to the University as possible.
