Thank you hopefully moving in a month or two there!

I used Move for Less, which is based in Union, NJ. They gave me a quote over the phone and we set up the day and time. They arrived on time and moved me without any damage to my stuff. They were also polite. The problem was that the quote was waaaay off from what I was actually charged. It comes out to about $250 per hour. Of course, if it's 2 hours drive to Allentown and 2 hours back, that's $1,000 right there for them just driving, not even counting the time they spent moving stuff. They originally told me that I wouldn't be charged while they were driving, but then they said that was only for local moves. They also failed to tell me that they charge for packing my stuff. Over the phone I told them I had a plasma tv and they said they have the box for that and could do it no problem. They charged me $100 to pack it up and put it in a box. Movers are pretty much the biggest ripoffs out there, next to used car salesmen. Once they give you a quote, double it. That will be the minimum you will pay. Also remember that trucks can't go on the GSP, so they might have to take I-80 or some other route.

I used Allied (O'briens) for a local move from Allentown to Easton. Granted its local, but my experience with them was very good. They stayed within their estimate, and the crew was very good. Nothing was damaged, including my pinball machines. I was told they wouldnt take the plasma unless they crated it for $300, but the crew said they would take it since I had it in the original box. If I had to do it again, I would definitely go with them.

regardless of who you go with, please make sure you tip the guys that do the move (individually, not just the leader). These guys bust their butts, and deserve it.

Reviving an old thread. I search for recommendations on local moves (within the Lehigh Valley), but this was the only one I could find.

Anyone else have a moving company they recommend? Thanks!

Thanks. I'm only going 15 miles away, but I had a full service move last time from Philly to the LV and can't go back to lugging my own boxes!
