Hello everyone! My boyfriend and I want to move out of NYS and we were told that the Lehigh Valley is a nice place to go. I have family in Jim Thorpe, and my step mother told us that Easton would be good as well and it is not to far from where she and my father live in New Jersey. I think that anywhere around these towns are good. I will answer the questions that toobusy posted to help anyone out who answers. Thanks all who reply!

When are you moving? No set time. Hopefully within the next year.

Where are you coming from? Upstate New York. Albany area.

Why are you moving? Want something new and to get out of NY.

Where will you be working? Not quite sure yet. He will be working with children in some way unless he can transfer from the Post Office.

Have you been here yet? About 10 years ago I was once. Haven't been since and he'a never been.

Will you buy or rent? We would like to buy but will rent at first if need be.

If buying, are you looking for a house or a condo? How much can you spend? House or Condo it doesn't matter. We can afford up to about 150k and we are willing to update and fix.

If renting, are you looking for an apartment, a townhouse or loft? How much can you spend? If we rent we can afford between $600 and $850

Do you prefer hi-rise or walk up? ?

Are you married or single? Do you have children? Not married but in a serious relationship. No children

Do you prefer public or private schools? Doesn't matter

Do you have pets? No but would like to have a dog

Do you want or need a yard? If we get a dog would need a yard, but no preference.

Are you keeping a car? Yes we both have a vehicle

Do you prefer bustling activity or calm and quiet? No preference

What do you want to be closest to?
Work- Willing to travel up to 20 miles
Shopping- No preference
Basic services (supermarket, drugstore, etc.)- Would like close by

Do you want to live with people of a similar age, race, religion or sexual preference or do you prefer a diverse neighborhood? Would like similar race (Please don't take that the wrong way, we just don't want to be in a neighborhood where we don't understand what is being said lol!) Other than that no preference.

Thanks again everyone!

I would suggest that you pick and area and have him request a transfer first with the post office. I know many people who have done this over the years. It does take some time for a transfer to go through, I know some people who waited 1-2 years.

No way would I move to easton. The down town has gone down hill and crime has gotten bad. It has seen a revival with some new restaurants but I still wouldn't go there at night (personally) I would look into Bethlehem or Nazareth.
