Hi - Possibly a very dumb question - but I am moving soon to work at Lehigh, and having driven down a few streets in the area (4th, Broadway, 3rd), the areas just to the west of the campus felt a bit unsafe.
Obviously wont be living or walking around there - but then read a Morning Call article about a driver being almost carjacked last night.

Is it unsafe to drive a nice new car through this area during off hours?

I avoid driving to South Bethlehem in general at night. There has been too much crime in that area.

I think crime can happen anywhere but I've got to say I've never felt really scared anywhere in Allentown or Bethlehem. I might not stop everywhere, but I don't usually think about carjacking.

Thanks!
And is it fair to say that 3rd St is safer/nicer than 4th St?

Default 3rd v 4th

3rd/4th are interchangeable to me. I have never felt unsafe there--you'll be fine.
