Im in Bethlehem. Has anyone in the area dropped cable? If so what type of antenna are you using and what channels do you get? Would I be better off getting on antenna for the roof or rabbit ears for each tv?

I'd like to do it, but was under the impression that South Mountain blocks out the Philly channels, and NYC is too far, so you'd only get channel 69 and PBS. But I could be wrong.

We got by with an antenna for several years. It was an internal one (got it at Radio Shack), so you couldn't even see it. We were able to get about 6 channels including channel 69 and most of the Philly ones. We switched to cable before the digital signal came out so I don't know how well it would do now.

You probably won't be getting as many different stations as you used to via antenna. The digital signals have nowhere as much reach as the old analog signals did. Although you may be getting more "stations within a station"- such as the Accuweather channel on 69 and a few from 39, don't expect to get any Philly stations. I live just below south mountain, and the only Philly station that antennaweb say that I might get is 6-and that is with an amplified antenna.

Years ago a friend of mine lived on top of a very high hill near Neffs. With just a set of rabbit ears, we were able to get 29 different stations, all NY/Philly, Lancaster, Scranton/WB. If you could get that many stations, you wouldn't even need cable.

I never had a problem with 3,6,10,16,22,29,46,and 69 when i was on antenna, and that was the antenna that came with the tv, mounted on top of it. Thing have since gone all digital, so I have no idea what you'd get these days. I just use Hulu now.

p.s. I lived on top of a hill in Bethlehem township
